and it just will not pick up signal, my guess is that something between the gps and the antenna broke, and a wire or something simple needs fixing. if I could get inside the gps I would have a better chance at uncovering the problem, and possibly fixing it.
does anyone know of a guide, or a site, or just plain how to dissasemble the garmin nuvi 350?
any tips or ideas as to what else might fix this problem?
thanks in advance

reset the unit but do it this way, hold your thumb on the bottom right of the screen while turning the power on, leave your thumb there as it is starting up and until it says reset all user data. select yes. a broken connection is so unlikely due to the position and connection of the antenna.
remember give it a few mins to get the first initial signal. this will be like starting a brand new gps up

The first thing to try is reseting the unit. There’s a reset button on the back under the antenna. I found this small amount of info on:http://www.fixya.com/support/t218786-gar…
“I had the same dismountingproblems with a 360, but i found the solution. When you look behind de GPS-unit at the top of the case there are two little screws hidden. You have to dismount the GPS first to get to those screws. To dismount the GPS, open this unit with the two visible torcscrews. Open the GPS with little force and turn the cap clockwise and it will come loose. Look to the left into the plactic case where the GPS antenne is found. Then put a very small screwdriver in the shaft case (on the leftside you see a little whole 4 x 1 mm). If you put a little pressure on the screwdrive while moving it to the right you will feel a spring. Its working like a springconnection between a watch and a watchstrap. When you dismount the GPS look out for damaging the electrical connection. Then you can dismount the torcscrews and the maincase. When you open the case you 1 screw in the middle in the circuitboard. be very careful everything is very small.”
    I’d be very careful though.
