I find that the Topo map supplied with my Garmin GPS are rather inadequate. It shows very few place names and the footpaths are bitty and incomplete. I am looking for a proper Os map, either 1:25000 or 1:50000. Can anyone help?

Does anyone know the difference performance-wise between these 2 models? I have seen a comparison chart but I couldn’t find anything that would explain the price difference…
I am looking for a handheld GPS unit that would load topographical maps on it (for hiking).

What Is The Difference Between Garmin Gps Etrex Venture Cx & Legend Cx?

Those two models are discontinued. I suggest looking at the Venture HC and Legend HCx. They have a higher-sensitivity receiver and are easier to find in the marketplace.
The main difference between the Venture HC and Legend HCx is that the Legend has a microSD slot that allows you to store more map data and the Legend provides turn-by-turn directions. The Venture has no memory slot (but does have 24MB built-in memory) and does not provide turn-by-turn directions. The Venture has 14 hours battery life versus 25. The Legend can store more waypoints and tracks and allows you to create Custom POIs using Garmin’s POI Loader program. The Venture does not allow this.

Also where would you recommend purchasing the device? I have looked at Garmin and it was alright (a little expensive and lacking some features). Magellan (it looked like it had a lot of features but the screen didn’t seem to respond well to touch). TomTom (seemed confusing, and looked like it didn’t have as many features as the other two).

I’m looking into buying a gps unit, but want to be able to switch it back and forth between two vechiels fairly easily. is this possible, with out buying extra equipent? I’m considering either a garmin, or a TomTom, and don’t want to spend over 350 when all is said and done.

I been beating my brains with this one, I like some features on the Lowrance, but I do not like the fact they have out dated maps and it sometimes freezes. The C330 has excellent reveiws, but it seems simplistic. Does anyone have any experiences with these units???The TomTom has some mapping problems I hear. I want something within the $250-350 range. Thank you!
