Put the card into the GPS receiver. There should be a slot on the side of the unit for the card. Just slide it in. If you have an outdoor handheld unit that does not have a slot on the side, open the battery compartment, remove the batteries and look behind the batteries for the slot.
To upload maps to the card, either copy the appropriate files using Windows Explorer (the GPS receiver will appear as a removable drive) or use whatever Garmin mapping program you have to send the maps to the receiver.

Why Does Mapquest Seem To Have Better Routes Than My Garmin Nuvi Navigator?

I live in the Maryland suburbs of DC. When I drive to and from DC, Mapquest almost always has faster directions than my Garmin (except when the directions are the same).
Does Mapquest take stop signs and stop lights into account, while the nuvi doesn’t? The nuvi is great for finding an alternate route if a highway has a mess, but generally the routes into and from DC have taken considerably longer than expected.
Has anyone else seen similar results?

I can not seem to find this answer anywhere.
I know with garmin and Magellan you have to pay for map updates.
Is it that you have to pay for updates with TomTom and then the mapshare makes minor corrections from users?

I Have A Garmin Emap Gps That Suddenly Stopped Receiving Satellite Signals Is It Repairable?

3 to 4 years old. I was in a different area than usual, when I returned I removed the batteries for a couple of days. It hasn’t indicated any satellite signal since. Can I take it apart and inspect the antenna connections? How does it come apart? Is it possible an external antenna would fix it? Anybody else had this problem?

I heard they are great in the city areas and the actuall device has great ratings however they said in any rural area it isn’t too accurate, we are planning a big trip in several months from Texas to Colorado lots of rural. Does anyone have one, what do they think do you use it in the rural area, any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated. =))
