I’m looking for a GPS for my car. I’m trying to decide between a Garmin 255W and a Magellan 1412 widescreen. I would like to get some comparisons from people who have used one or both please. Also, if you can explain the difference between multipoint routing and waypoints, that would be awesome!
I feel like the Garmin offers more features like editing your own maps and uploading maps from MapQuest and stuff, but the Magellan seems like a better (more sensitive) touchscreen and such. Thoughts?

I’m looking to buy a GPS for my parents but I’m not sure which one to buy. I can get the Garmin nuvi 360 for its regular price of 370$ (In Canadian Dollars) or a Magellan 4210 on special for 200$ (once again Canadian). From what I understand, there are added costs of about 80$ a year for certain services with the Magellan while the Garmin has everything included. Im looking for some advice on which you think i whould go with. and some reasons why i should chose one over the other. thanks..

im thinking of buying Magellan 4200. but i’ve heard Garmin Nuvi is really good. Can you guys tell me which one you prefer and the pros and cons of both of them? which one is faster loading? thanks!

I see what I call ‘bobo’ brands offering a lot more features for less money and am tempted to buy one. Do you have one, like Nextar or Amcor, or some other brand that works great for less money? I’m especially concerned with re-routing while driving and day/night backlighting. Thanks!

What Kind An Automotive Gps Navigator To Buy: Garmin Nuvi 240w Or Magellan Maestro 4250?

I like the Magellan Maestro 4250 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator.
This is the first GPS I’ve owned or used, so I’m not speaking from experience. It worked GREAT on our trip from Vermont to HHI, South Carolina. The directions and POI’s served us very well. The screen helps folks in the back seat see what’s up. The AAA references work great, too. It generally responds well to our verbal commands. Two points on that, though: follow the directions (speak softly); and I wish you could program it to respond to custom commands.
The only reason I took one star away was because of the Bluetooth. It actually works with my PDA (Audiovox VX660), even though it’s not listed. Many phones aren’t listed. But the volume isn’t sufficient at highway speeds (even in a very quite Audi A6) and the connection between the phone and the GPS/Bluetooth has to be re-established every time you turn the unit back on, which is pretty lame. But otherwise, I recommend this unit to others.

Looking at Magellan roadmate 1440 and Garmin 255w. Both seem to be great systems, one might have ability the other doesn’t and vice/versa.
