Gps Question On Tom Tom And Garmin?

I recently bought a garmin GPS. I know that you can buy maps to update it in the future but I have been told Tom tom has free downloads for the future. Does any one know if this is true and or if Garmin has free downloads also?
Best buy recommended the Garmin along with many reviewers but I know two people extremely happy with their tom tom. They did not have any information on the future maps/downloads. Any help would be great since I only have 30 days to return it.
Question About The Garmin Nuvi?

i own nuvi 260w and i connected my unit to PC and i by mistake erased one file the file was in side the ExtData folder the name of the file was (BIN file 006-D0952-04) there were total of 4 BIN files now there are 3. Do these files have any importance to my unit or are they there for nothing? i cant restore the file anymore. any help? Thanks.

I’m looking for the cheapest GPS with bluetooth… Which one is that for Garmin… Also it says 3 different ways of getting traffic reports on the garmin and one of them is XM traffic.. If I get a garmin can I use my current xm radio subscription and get traffic? If so, can you still use the xm radio in your car at the same time?

I just bought the Garmin 260W from amazon and did not realize that it is a discontinued product. Does the 1 year warranty still apply? If so what does it cover? If not can I buy an additional warranty in case it breaks?

Garmin 200 Gps Ac Charger Question?

Will any harm be done to to the Garmin GPS or the charger if I use an adapter with an output of .8 amp?
The car charger that comes with the Garmin has an output of 1 amp which I plug into the adapter, and then into a house outlet. Appreciate any avice
Gps Garmin 250w Nuvi Question?

I have a garmin gps from 5 months ago. Yesterday in the main menu where it says “where to” and then “map” i clicked where to, click address, hit our state kansas and then click spell city it either freezes up or completly shuts down. Also when i try to click settings and go into other menus it just shuts off.
Why and How is this happening? has anybody had any problems like this before? please help! thanks!
Garmin Nuvi 200w Map Update Question?

I’ve recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 200W GPS system and I’ve read that the preloaded maps arent the most up to date. I’ve also heard that there are map updates you can purchase from Garmin, but without my device (its still being shipped to me) the site wont let me search through the available updates.
Does anyone have a Garmin 200W and have purchased the map upgrades? Which one did you buy?

I’m buying my fiancee a GPS system as part of his Christmas list. I don’t want to pay over $200.00. From what I can tell so far, GPS is one of the better ones on the market. I’m looking at two so far — they are the Garmin Nuvi 200 Portable GPS System and the Garmin StreetPilot c530 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator. I’m also looking at TomToms — model TomTom One, 3rd Edition 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator and TomTom ONE Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator . Can anybody tell me which one of these is the best and why you would recommend it? It would be a great help, thank you!
